On my watch...

Bit of a strange post this, this is normally the watch I wear.

It's a Swiss made Favre Leuba. It was originally bought, by my father on 24th February 1956 in Changi Village, Singapore.

My dad was stationed there, in the RAF, doing his National Service. According to the original sales receipt, it cost him 4 installments of $75 dollars, before the watch was his.

I am in the process of getting the watch serviced, although it normally keeps quite good time.

It tends to gain about 3 minutes in every 24 hours. The watch never needs winding and doesn't use a battery. Instead it relies on the kinetic energy of being on one's wrist to keep going.

This watch isn't particularly valuable now. But to me, it means the world.

Ink & Paper - A beautiful little film.

Love this!
My father was involved in the printing industry all his life; from being an apprentice to eventually becoming a Production Director for a printing company. He often toyed with the idea of buying himself a small letterpress machine. But never did.
It's fabulous to know that there are still artisans out there; surviving the recession, keeping these processes alive.
